CRY for Tom

We were joined by Ann and Andy Demaine at our recent rowers meeting - they collected a cheque for £1000 raised in memory of Tom their son. Tom loved gig racing and it was our privilege to support Ann and Andy's work which is raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in this way - thanks to everyone who donated time and treasure towards this.
We held an extra race at our Regatta, the inaugural Thomas Demaine Round the Island Race which took place on Sunday 21st July. It was scheduled to combine with our annual Looe Regatta and consisted of clubs from far and wide racing from Looe, out and around Looe Island and back. In the process we raised money for the Thomas Demaine Memorial Fund which pays for cardiac screening for young people in Cornwall and has enabled a further 20 young people to have their hearts screened.
The first screening day supported by LRC's donation will be held at Bodmin College on Wednesday 4th December 2019.
