Joint training session with RNLI
This was our joint training exercise with Looe RNLI. The evening unfolded with the gig rowers practicing man overboard and recovery back onto the gigs. Calling for help the gig rowers undertook first aid until Looe RNLI inshore lifeboats arrived on scene. The lifeboat crews had to triage three casualties, evacuating two back to the boathouse. Once back in the river volunteer crew Aaron and Nathaniel, who is also one of the mens A rowers, went for another swim allowing other gig rowers the chance to practice how to recover a person from the water back onto the gig. Then it was back to the lifeboat station for a warm cup of tea and a debrief.
